Tess Amodeo-Vickery is a singer, songwriter and performer currently living in Rome, Italy. Growing up as a musical theater actress in professional, regional and Off-Broadway productions, Tess studied performing arts with Scott Severance, Peter Sklar, Kevin Gardner and Robert Shea, with vocal training by Michelle Henderson and Valerie Cowart. At Wesleyan University (BA, 2007), she studied concert guitar, dance, design and fine art, while performing as a featured vocalist in a cappella group Quasimodal and in funk band Kinky Spigot & the Welders.
From 2007-2009, she worked on Wall Street in high net worth client management & retention and continued to perform as a backup singer in New York City, specializing in Jazz, Funk & Pop vocals. In 2009, Tess moved to Rome where she began working full time as a jazz vocalist, joining Bixi Big Band as the 18-piece swing orchestra's lead singer, and won Sabina Jazz Festival with the group in 2015. Her group Tess & the Yellow Cabbies has performed for the U.S. Embassy in Rome, Alta Roma / Alta Moda, and for luxury brands BVLGARI & Fendi. In 2016, she performed for International Jazz Day with Sicily's Hot Jazz Orchestra, honoring her relative Frank Sinatra with a repertoire of his most-loved songs and began appearing on RAI Radio 2 Social Club with Luca Barbarossa.
Tess's self-released debut album of original folk/pop compositions Soul Whisperer was met with acclaim from publications like La Repubblica and Rolling Stone, and was named one of the best albums of 2015 by OndaRock. Her 2016 Soul Voyager Tour traversed Europe and North America, and saw her collaborating with artists and tastemakers from Jose Romussi to Peter Jensen. In 2016, Tess's voice was featured on the soundtrack for Italian film La Ragazza del Mondo, winner of the David di Donatello for best new director & Venice Film Festival's Pasinetti & Lizzani Awards, as well as a Globo d'oro.
